How to read Battery Health on iPhone, and why battery below 80% deducts from the price.
Check battery health before selling — how much does it affect price?
The battery is the only wear part you can check as a number, so shops use it as a straight, transparent deduction rule.
How to read Battery Health
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Go to Battery > Battery Health & Charging
- Look at Maximum Capacity — that is current health versus new
iPad has no direct reading — judge by charge cycles and fast drain instead. Apple Watch shows it at Settings > Battery > Battery Health too.
What number triggers a deduction?
The common shop rule is 80%. Below it, the battery is worn enough to need replacing before resale, so there is a fixed deduction every time. Above 80% there is no deduction at all, whether 81% or 100%.
Should you replace the battery before selling?
Usually no — an official replacement costs more than the deduction. Just report the honest number when you get a quote and the system calculates it for you.
Battery at 85%+ with a clean body is the dream combo. Checked it? Bring your device for a quote right away.
