Erase and sign out of iCloud before selling — how to

This step matters most — a shop cannot buy a device still signed into iCloud, no matter how beautiful it is. Follow this and you are done in under 10 minutes.

1. Back up first

• Plug in + join Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now
• Move photos and important chats over — after erasing there is no recovery

2. Sign out of Apple ID

1. Go to Settings > [Your Name], scroll to the bottom
2. Tap Sign Out and enter your Apple ID password to turn off Find My
3. Confirm until you are fully signed out

3. Erase everything

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings and confirm. The phone restarts like new, ready to set up.

4. Remove the SIM and do a final check

• Take the SIM out, power on, and confirm the multi-language hello setup screen
• Take the case off, wipe fingerprints, pack the box and cable
